Proximie today announced a partnership with HistoSonics to bring cloud-based technology to novel histotripsy therapy for liver tumors.

The announcement comes one day after Proximie inked another partnership to integrate technologies with Imperative Care.

This U.S.-based partnership aims to use Proximie’s cloud-based operating system for intelligent operating rooms (ORs) to enhance the adoption and user experience of the HistoSonics Edison system.

Proximie’s OR intelligence platform offers a tailored digital ecosystem to drive healthcare innovation. The platform facilitates real-time connectivity, unified data with AI-enabled insights and a video library. HistoSonics’ FDA-cleared Edison system uses focused ultrasound energy to provide histotripsy. Delivered via a robotic arm, histotripsy mechanically destroys and liquifies targeted tissue and tumors. It achieves this without the invasiveness or toxicity of traditional procedures.

Through this partnership, the companies aim to integrate the Proximie platform and Edison system for hospitals and ambulatory surgery centers (ASCs) across the U.S. Specifically, it provides real-time capabilities to enable HistoSoncis’ medical directors and physician faculty to shar elive expertise to surgeons using Edison. They can treat liver tumors more effectively while adding new levels of rapidity to diagnostics and operations.

Initial go-live regions for the partnership include Chicago, Colorado, Florida, Louisiana, Seattle and Southern California. Dr. Kevin Burns of Providence Mission Hospital has already frequently utilized the Proximie platform and the Edison Histotripsy System together, the companies say, highlighting the benefits for surgeons and patients.
